Join Monday Night Masterpieces to learn a new skill and unlock your creativity in this laid back yet informative workshop! In this class we will: Learn the basics of oil painting. Unlock the tricks of composition for engaging paintings. Learn and incorporate classic impressionist painting style and color theory. Have fun and go with the creative flow! This course is divided into three parts, where we will breakdown the sometimes overwhelming world of oil painting. Each session you will learn new skills and leave with a better understanding of oil painting. This class will have an emphasis on landscapes however the skills are applicable to all subjects. With a hands on instructor leading the way, you'll gain valuable tips and tricks you'll cherish for a lifetime. In this course you will discover your own personal style and walk away with a piece of art to proudly show off at home. Let your mind unwind while challenging yourself in a whole new way! Week 1 : What materials are necessary and which ones you can skip. The purpose of priming your canvas and underpainting. How to set up dynamic compositions. Ways to sketch and map out your painting. Blocking in your painting. Week 2 : Understanding Impressionist color theory. Ways to push values and alter hues. Creating and defining shapes. Week 3 : Ways to push and pull your painting. Discover your own style through brushwork and movement. Ways to refine and finish your painting. Sealing varnishing your painting. Whats included: Everything! Quality supplies to use during the class, including Winsor & Newton oil paints, brushes, canvas and canvas board, terpentine and paint thinner, pallet knives, pallets, easels, aprons, and clean up materials. Just bring yourself! Optional: Learning to paint is helpful when looking at a referenc photo. Photo options will be available to choose from in class, however we encourage you to bring your own reference photo to paint from. If you'd like to invest in your own set of paints, brushes, or canvas or even have some you already own-bring them! You can even store your supplies here at the studio for safe keeping.
