Join Emily for a chilled out two-hour weekly watercolor painting workshop watercolor painting geared towards beginner and first-time painters. This course is divided into three parts, where we will breakdown the sometimes overwhelming world of watercolor painting. Each session you will learn new skills and leave with a better understanding of watercolor painting. With a hands on instructor leading the way, you'll gain valuable tips and tricks you'll cherish for a lifetime. In this course you will discover your own personal style and walk away with a piece of art to proudly show off at home. Let your mind unwind while challenging yourself in a whole new way! Week 1 : Get Started with learning the key basics to start painting with watercolors including beginner wash techniques, how to mix paint, and more. Week 2 : Dive deeper into brush techniques, additional wash techniques, layering, and more. Week 3 : Master the basics of color theory by layering paint and creating your own color wheel. Explore textures and mark making. Whats included: Everything! Quality supplies to use during the class, including paint, brushes, canvas and canvas board, pallets, aprons, and clean up materials. Just bring yourself! Optional: If you'd like to invest in your own set of paints, brushes, or canvas or even have some you already own-bring them! You can even store your supplies here at the studio for safe keeping. If you'd like to purchase your own materials, ask us for our suggested materials list! About the instructor: Emily Wilson Gillespie is a Bloomington, Indiana artist celebrating rural landscapes with playful shapes, vibrant colors, and natural dyes. She holds degrees in Studio Art and Arts Administration, and her work has been supported by grants from the Efroymson Arts Fellowship, Indiana Arts Commission, and Bloomington Arts Commission. She has a passion for sharing her artistry with artists of all skill levels and ages!
